Please check the system requirements to make sure your computer can run these programs. To maintain the utmost safety for your child's online experience, we strongly suggest that you engage in these activities with your child. Not only does it maintain online safety, but it encourages interaction between you and your child. 


  • FCAT Explorer:  (3-5) Program set up by the State of Florida for all students. Helps students practice FCAT skills and prepare for the FCAT. Your childs teacher has their username and password if your child does not know it.
  • OpenOffice.Org:  (K-5) Office Suite of programs our students use in class and in the technology labs. You can download this free software from this site. Includes Writer, Calc, Impress, Base, and Draw. (DL)
  • Cool Math :  (2-5) A number of fun math games for students to participate in.
  • WordWorld  (PreK-2)  A fun and popular slate of educational games based on the PBS show of the same name. Great concrete text examples! Play with your children to emphasise phonic fun.
  • Into the Book: (2-5) A great site to help your child with comprehension strategies in reading. Registration required, but free.  
  • Sid the Science Kid:    (K-2) A great program to instill scientific program with your child. Great way to reinforce what your child's senses do. Also physical / chemical changes.
  • Stellarium: (K-5) Free program used at Central Ridge to teach astronomy. The version available is now stable and much better. You can set the program for your location and look at the constellations. Like having an observatory on your computer. (DL)
  • Kerpoof: (1-5) Online animation for kids. Great for digital story telling. Free to use, though some items require a purchase.
  • Animoto: (4-5) A free tool students can use to make short (30 second) online movies. 
  • Black Holes, Gravity's Relentless Pull: (3-5) A great site that teaches children about Black Holes. How they form, what they are, What would happen if you fell into one!
  • Virtual Frog Dissection: (5) A free site that walks users through an actual frog dissection. Used with 5th grade to prepare them for their dissections.
  • Froguts!:(3-4) A simpler site that allows students to conduct a simple frog dissection. Used with younger students to prepare them for the more indepth dissection in 5th grade.
  • Story Line Online : (K-2) A Wonderful site developed by the Screen Actors Guild. Actors will read favorite stories on line. Stories are read by such actors as Amanda Byrnes and Robert Guillaume.
  • Celestia: (1-5) An Amazing program that allows students to explore the solar system and beyond.  Also includes a number of add ons to enrich your Celestia experience. (DL) 
  • Wonderville (3-5) A great website that allows users to explore a virtual world of Science. Kids will enjoy exploring Wonderville while they hunt for science activities.
